This Data Deletion Policy explains how you can request deletion of your STAY OR PAY account and associated personal data. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
We designed this process to be straightforward: you contact us, we verify your identity, and we delete what we can — while keeping only what we are legally required or permitted to retain.
1. Sign Out Is Not Account Deletion
Signing out of the app ends your active session but does not delete your account or personal data. Your profile, session history, and connections remain stored until you request deletion or we delete them under this policy.
Removing a connection with another user removes that relationship only — it does not delete either user's account.
2. How to Request Deletion
To request deletion of your account and personal data, email us from the address associated with your account (or clearly identify your verified phone number):
Please include:
- The email address linked to your Google sign-in
- Your verified phone number (if applicable)
- Your display name in the app (to help us locate your account)
- A clear statement that you want your account and personal data deleted
We may ask follow-up questions to confirm you are the account holder. This protects your data from unauthorized deletion requests.
In-app deletion. A self-service "Delete account" button is not yet available in the app. Until it is, email is the supported channel for deletion requests.
3. What We Delete
After we verify your request, we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account, including where applicable:
- Your profile (display name, preferences, currency, language, incoming-call settings)
- Your authentication record (Google-linked account and verified phone number)
- Focus session history tied to your account
- User connections, connection requests, and contact aliases you created
- Contact invites you sent
- Recipient selection history
- Payment account references and payment commitment records tied to your account
- In-app notification event records addressed to you
Deletion is performed on our primary systems (Supabase and related services). Some data may persist briefly in backups until those backups rotate out.
4. What We May Retain
We may retain certain information after a deletion request where we have a legal obligation or legitimate need, such as:
- Payment and transaction records required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution
- Records needed to comply with law enforcement or regulatory requests
- Security logs retained for a limited period to investigate abuse
- Aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies you
Retained data is limited to what is necessary and is not used for marketing or to restore your account without a new sign-up.
5. Data on Your Device
The app stores some information locally on your device (for example, draft session selections or acknowledgment of practice-session notices). Uninstalling the app removes local app data from your device. Local data is not a substitute for account deletion — you must still email us to delete server-side account data.
6. Third-Party Processors
We use service providers such as Supabase (authentication and database), Google (sign-in), SMS providers (phone verification), and payment processors. When you request deletion, we delete data in our systems and instruct processors to delete or anonymize your data where applicable, subject to their retention rules and our agreements with them.
Data held directly by Google in your Google account is governed by Google's policies. Revoking STAY OR PAY's access in your Google account settings does not by itself delete data we already stored.
7. Timeline
We aim to acknowledge deletion requests within 7 business days and to complete deletion within 30 days after verification, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve an active payment dispute.
We will confirm by email when deletion is complete or explain if any data must be retained and why.
8. Consequences of Deletion
Account deletion is permanent. You will lose access to session history, statistics, connections, and any in-progress commitments. You may create a new account later, but previous data will not be restored.
If you have an outstanding payment obligation or an active dispute, we may delay full deletion until the matter is resolved.
9. Other Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, portability, or objection). For any privacy request — not only deletion — contact support@stayorpay.app. See also our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. If we introduce in-app account deletion, we will update this page accordingly.
